Manuscripts are subjected to a double-blind review process, and published articles are representative of the best current theoretical and methodological treatments of religion. David Eagle, PhD
Editor in Chief
David Eagle is Associate Professor of Global Health and Sociology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. His interdisciplinary research program sits at the intersection of religion, health, and social inequality. He has published extensively on topics including clergy mental health and well-being, racial inequality in religious organizations, and the sociology of modern congregations. Dr. Eagle's scholarship has been recognized with major awards, including the 2023 Best Article Award from the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion for his work in the American Journal of Sociology. Before coming to this role, he served for six years as Book Review Editor at Review of Religious Research. His academic work is further enriched by six years of experience as a clergyperson, which provides him with invaluable practical insight into the communities he studies.

Laura Upenieks, PhD
Associate Editor
Laura Upenieks is an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Director at Baylor University. Her research interests are in religion and health, aging and the life course, and quantitative methods. She is currently working on projects related to individuals' perceived relationship with God and well-being, religious virtues and health, and religious/spiritual struggles over the life course. Dr. Upenieks is the recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Faculty Research Award at Baylor University, and recently received the 2024 Early Career Award from the American Sociological Association Sociology of Religion Section.

Joshua Gaghan, MTS
Managing Editor
Josh Gaghan is a Research Analyst at Duke University. He helps manage the Seminary to Early Ministry Study, a longitudinal project examining formation, belief change, and career trajectories among seminarians. His research lies at the intersection of the sociology of religion, organizational sociology, and cultural sociology, with particular attention to belief formation and religious careers.

Rachael Murdock, MA
Graduate Editorial Intern
Rachael Murdock is a PhD student and Teacher of Record in the Sociology Department at Baylor University. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology from Pepperdine University and a Master of Arts in Sociology from Baylor University. Her research focuses on the intersection of religion and well-being, with recent work published in the Journal of Religion and Health and Religions. She has also presented her research at the Association for the Sociology of Religion, the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, and the Population Association of America. Rachael looks forward to assisting with the journal.

Andrew Joyce, MA
Graduate Editorial Intern
Andrew Joyce is a PhD student in sociology at Duke University. His research agenda focuses on the sociology of culture, education, and social mobility. Before his doctoral studies, he earned his MA in sociology from the University of Oklahoma, where his work focused on the intersection of religion and politics. His other interests include data visualization and social science pedagogy.
